How to Take Halloween Costume Photos {DIY Video}

Halloween is one of the CUTEST opportunities for capturing your little ones in adorable moments. For this year, Lily (3yrs) was insistent on being a monkey and Cal (almost 6yrs) was insistent on being the Archer Queen from Clash of Clans (a video game with which I am barely familiar but he is obsessed).

When Lily said she wanted to be a monkey, I knew I had to turn to the experts of Etsy to create something incredible for her. I quickly found exactly the right mix of cute and spunk at LilMissandLilMister shop where she had a tutu monkey outfit including a TAIL!!!!

For Cal, we created a costume by mixing "upcycled" Instacart bags as well as a white wig we spray-painted purple, a crown, and a bow & arrow set from the Dollar Store.

Together, they were stinkin' cute. Now photographing them?? That is a different story.

The tips from this video include: 1) Set an interesting, but simple scene 2) Choose the proper lens (Tamron 35mm SP f/1.8 in this video) 3) Change your perspective from various angles to create interesting and unique photos!

In addition, I would add that - as with all my photos of my own kiddos - I suggest a 3-5 minute window to capture your LOs!
